I was without the internet for the past one week and it's all because my phone line conked out because of some line failure. I was terribly upset about the way BSNL treated their customers and also, being one of the major telecom service provider, they need to have a effective and efficient complaint registry process (which doesn't happen to be the case). They have a automated complaint registry no. which is 198 and I registered the complaint the very first day. I was waiting for the next four days and no one came. I was really angry but I'm not the kind of person who vents his feelings and so I directly went to the BSNL office and reported my phone line failure. Luckily, after a week's wait, there came a lineman who repaired my line and now I'm online again!
The high handedness with which BSNL handles it's customers is really irritating. BSNL, being the major telecom service provider in India need to be a little more courteous and quick! Else they'll soon be at the bottom (which might not possibly happen in this generation, cos they are that dominant) .
It's been long pending from my side. This post is especially dedicated to a key person who has helped this blog in it's upward journey. This key person has helped me in improving my blogging experience and also helped others experience passion in my blog! She has tweaked this blog template with a lot of features and is providing custom designed templates too! This template, I assume, is really been better than the other templates I had till now because it is
*Really fast loading
*Creatively designed
*Has increased my readers
*Gained a lot of positive reviews
*It was done for FREE, just for me!
Now, you would be wondering who this SHE is, she's been one real helpful soul in my case and she's none other than ANA..
Will never ever forget the time you spent for me...
Thanks a lot Ana!
Constructive criticism and appreciations for Ana will be definitely appreciated!
You may all know that this is not my first month in blogging, but I was unaware of analysis of my site's traffic unless I started checking Alexa ranks and signed in for Google's Analytics. This might be my first feature of my traffic analysis of this site and I would be putting it up every month on the 19th from now on. Since image speaks louder than words, I decided to show off my statistics in images.
First the statistics from Google Analytics :
Traffic Graph:The first graph is my traffic graph for my site from April 17th to May 17th! It shows the everyday split of the traffic I received, and the maximum no. of visitors in a day recorded this month was 112 on May 15th,2008.
New vs Returning:This is my new vs returning graph. It shows that I have nearly 20% returning to my site whereas the remaining 80% are one time visitors. This leaves a me a little discontent because it means that i don't have enough content to catch people and make them come back for more. I will be taking extra effort to make more useful content and make people comeback!
Traffic Sources:My major traffic sources are definitely referring sites which give me about 80% of my traffic. Referring sites are sites in which I was listed and from where people come to my site.
I'm also happy that I've been getting nearly 20% of direct traffic. Direct traffic are people who type the name of my site directly in the browser's address bar.
Search engine traffic is starting to trickle in. I'm no professional in SEO and other such website designing techniques. So this is something miraculous. I hope to get more traffic from search engines in the future by providing more useful content and query oriented topics!
Other stats:These are my other stats for the month. I've received nearly 4000 page views this month. The average time on site and the average page views are pretty good for a beginner. The bounce rate is slightly on the higher side. I would like to reduce it to somewhere near 50%. Since this is the first month in blogging analysis, there are nearly 1300 absolutely unique visitors which I guess will go down a bit next month!
Now the statistics from Alexa,
Traffic Graph:My Alexa graph has finally come out of obscurity and started showing it's head to the outside world! That makes me one happy blogger! This has been one happy month for me in terms of Alexa ranks. At the max, I made it to rank #121,121 but again I see a small drop which I hope is not for too long and will rise again sooner than later.
Other Statistics:My reach has increased by a stunning 900% and my ranking places has improved by close to one and a half million. My page views per person has been slowly increasing and I guess with more useful content, I can get them to visit more pages!
Conclusion:
*Content is king. More useful content means more visitors returning back, i.e., more quality traffic!
I was skimming through the local newspaper "Times of India" today when I got transfixed to a few ads. I just like the way the ads have been made and here, I prefer to keep quiet and let the ads do the talking. Just a great way to make people aware and nice to see celebs going to such an extent for a social cause!

The Chinese Earthquake as everyone of you would have read in today's newspaper is definitely one of the most massive tragedies to have happened in recent times. No one was expecting it when nature unleashed it's fury on the people from the world's most populous country and the least expecting would have been the Chinese Government who are in a real mess, what with the Olympics coming up and all. I was on one hand full of hatred because of the Tibetan issue. Now, that has all turned into pity for the government and the country's people. I would love to extend my hand for any help, but being in this part of south India, I'm just so helpless as everyone of you reading this.. And the news report of the quake which said that a school collapsing leaving around 1000 kinder gardeners and teenagers dead came as a real shock for me.
But all said and done, the Earth's population has been increasing multifold and these are just Mother Earth's balancing forces. So we have to just live our life watching all tragic events wondering that it could happen to us tomorrow or maybe dayafter or a year later!
My heart goes out to all those who've died and all those people who were injured. About the future, I guess there's gonna be a lot of aid pouring in, but is it reaching the intended people. That's your guess.. I would just advice you to help in through authorised persons cos there are still fickle minded persons, who try to earn of such a disaster. Wishing China a speedy recovery!
There has been one technical miracle that has happened! The tremors were reported in twitter even while it was happening.. Check it out here
Check out this video of the earthquake
